Hi
New week, new chat thread
I am so glad things are sorted with Hannah, lets hope things remain the way they say
Ohh haveviewings for around 4 houses this week too. I am so excited to be getting my own place now.
However, I know in a few years time me and Matthew will move to Scotland. We both love the unspoilt country side and its a great place to raise children too.
We had a fab time in Kirkcudbright, would recommend it to anyone. Your in the middle of the Countryside in a lovely Bay. The site has everything you need including a swimming pool and bar as well as a lovely nature trial and reserve. I could have easily stayed as well as spending time watch the swans and their cygnets

That's great news about the viewings - let's hope at least one of them is right for you - and available!!
I just walked out of the lift this morning at work - and flatten my bezzie's toe! Oops! I blame Phil - if I hadn't been sidestepping round him as he was waiting to get in the lift it wouldn't have happened. I was turning to ask him to hold the lift as I wouldn't be a second and wasn't watching where I was going.
I wouldn't mind, but he didn't hold the bloody lift, either!
Oh, but it's a fabulously gorgeously sunny day here in central London. Makes a wonderful change ...

Happy Monday!
I am shattered and there are 5 working days to go 'till the weekend. People opposite me who's garden backs onto mine decided to have a party all weekend - literally! They were playing loud music from mid afternoon on saturday, right through the night and finished at about 10.30 last night.
Yep the council know and the blooming police can't do anything as noise polution is a council problem unless the party spills out onto the highway! Next time I'll tell the police that there is a strange sickly sweet smell coming from them too! Ok so it might have been the larger but it might also have something they were smoking!

Hello all,
Sarah, I love Kirkudbright and indeed the whole of the Southwest coast of Scotland, especially when it's sunny, thats where we'll be going for our hols in a few weeks, there's so many trees it's just gorgeous. We were all set to move up there actually but something happened and now I don't think we could do it because of our businesses. I still dream of living there though.
It's horridly busy here and mostly it's all meetings, Saturday sees the start of really busy weddings with 7 weddings in the next month so if you don't see or hear from me you'll know why, plus we have to squeeze in days out for the children, summer holidays and Pauls busiest time too, me thinks I might need a good sleep in October!

i have a week of work :p this is the twelth holiday week and work closes so i have been spending the first day updating my blog and getting a few things finished for the craft fair at the weekend - there is a big steam engine rally in ballymena and i am in the craft tent so of now to finish one more thing and get a couple of loads of washing done

Ohh Mandy, i would recommend Brighthouse Bay, fabulous campsite. They also have lodges and cottages to rent too.
Actually we got a fab tent from Argos. It was reduced to £110 and it sleeps 8 people. Its easy to assemble and its huge inside so even if it does rain you can still stay dry.
We are heading back up there in a few weeks time. We picked loads of mussels and I am so looking forward to them tonight but have two house viewings frist. Decided I definately want a house and a garden not a flat.
Mandy what time are we meeting on Thurs and shall I just come to yours

Sarah, just come over around lunchtime on Thursday and we'll go to Little Italy, I told the kids, they cheered :)
I'll look up Brighthouse Bay right now :)

Hi from Southend! Its been the start of a busy week for me. Spent all day at the school for sports day. My eldest girl's class won the Yrs 5 and 6 contest which was good.
I'm at work now and got nothing to do so got to sit here and amuse myself until 2am.:(

OMG 2AM!!!! I used to have to work until 11Pm which was bad enough - what do you do Vonnie???
Think I have got DDs and DHs bug :( thought I might have been lucky and escaped it but seems not! Typical when I just start a new job too and cannot have any time off. Heard today that DD will be going up a class in September (her school is small so they only have 5 classes for the 7 year groups) which is good news as it means she is doing well, will know for certain on Friday when we get her very first report.
Hey Vonnie just realised where you are - do you ever head over to Sugar & Spice in Billericay?? Keep meaning to head up there but not managed it yet!

How is this for stupidity, while at the meeting at Hannah's school last week, I learned the new building is going to have carpetting in the corridors. Can just see how long it will be before they have to replace it, its going to get FILTHY really quickly IMHO.

Hee hee I like to tell people I'm a pole dancer at Spearmint Rhino but sadly nothing so glam. I'm a legal secretary and work in a corporate firm in London.
I haven't been to that place in Billericay but perhaps I will look for it. Do they have a website?

Morning everyone
Have just been to Brooke's Graduation from Nursery to Reception. They looked lovely
Not got much planned. Out of the two houses we viewed yesterday, one ticks all the right boxes. They both had two bedrooms but one was much larger than the other and is only £25 extra a month so going for house number 1. House number 2, would be very lucky if even the double bed fitted into the largest room

Good luck with getting the house you want Tink, you can tell me all about it on Thursday.
I'm shattered, I did a 25 min workout on the Wii Fit which claims i have gained weight since yesterday and I'm sure I couldn't have!!
I'm off to Loobys sports day this afternoon, Abigail came first in her race yesterday and I was so proud.
Our kids all got their reports on Friday and all did excellently, one of Abigails teachers said amongst all the other brilliant comments that they think she's a very talented artist, how fab is that!! :D

I know that feeling. Some of the placces we viewed when looking to rent in the last few years were awful! I just can't believe the prices some places charge too! We found a brand new little townhouse 15 minutes from town with secured parking and 2 bedrooms for £450 a month.
The other option were the relatively new flats near to the town (up to 5 minutes by car) with only one bedroom, unsecured parking, a box room for a kitchen and lots of traffic noise outside. Those were going for £500 a month plus.
It didn't make sense to me lol.

They have reduced the rent and the admin fees so its a bit of a bargin. There is also a new cooker ready to go in too.
Just need to wait and see if they'll accept Kitt or its back to square one

Ohh tough choice to make
We can afford both but do we go for
Two bedroom house with large kitchen and two large bedrooms for £500 a month with garden. Estate is not too bad but has been known to errupt at time
Or
One bedroom house with very small kitchen and lovely bedroom overlooking the living room for £350, tiny garden to the front but on an estate Matthew likes
I really like the second one altough it only has one bedroom and it would allow us to save more money for our wedding. I don't think we would pay much in rent or gas as its very small and the landlady said it takes no time at all to wram up and its very cosy. Plus we would only need a cooker and fridge which we already have.
CraftyGal
15th July 2008, 05:48 PM
I think the 2nd. If it is situated somewhere you like and allows you to save some money I think it is a good idea. I take it that it's big enough for you and your stuff?

Will no 2 let you have you kitt? If so, it's a no-brainer. Nice as it is to have a larger house, even if you think you can afford the £500, with prices rocketing the way they are, I'd always take the cheaper option if available. You can always move to a larger property in a year or two (I hope).
Good luck!

The second one
Although it very small we think its going to be ideal. We'll only need the heating on in the Winter so we won't use much gas and its recently had a combi boiler fitted and a shower

well done on getting a house Sarah, where is it?
I'm taking the children for a walk onto the Quayside and then a trip to the Baltic because there's a couple of Japanese artists exhibiting that I really want to see. It seems loike the whole world is on strike today, our bin men are due and my bin is as usual full and one of the neighbours said they won't be coming until a week today which begs the question, where in the flippin heck am I going to put this weeks rubbish?

Well done Sarah. You sound really excited.
Mandy, re the bins, they should be emptied in a couple of days. Normally when strike action hits the catch up is done along the lines of bank holidays.
I've been to the ENT consultant today and after 3.5 years of waiting he has at last put me on the list for an operation :D My nose was broken after a pony who shared the field with Thor knocked me over and I have a bent nose with a hole in the bit in the middle which is now going to be fixed! Evening all.
I've felt ill all day - but clearly not ill enough to be sent home!
Then when I was sat watching TV, I discovered a HUGE bite on my side just above my waistband. Looks like I've been bitten by something and it's reacted - I've got a hard, painful lump there. Nice.
Question is, what can I put on it? I'm already on antihistamines.

You could try common ole garden vinegar or aloe vera, either that or go round with the perfume of TCP. Above all try not to scratch it, otherwise it could become infected.
Congratulations to everyone that has had good news this week and commiserations to those that need sympathy.

Oh, it doesn't itch or anything - that's probably why I missed it so long. I got into my nightie a little while ago and had a good look in the wardrobe mirror - looks like there's a boil coming up - which is probably why it hurts so much.
I have put some Savlon on it. If it's worse in the morning, I'll try and get in to see the practice nurse at my surgery; I don't think it's something to bother the doctor with. They may want me to put magnesium paste on it or something to draw it out. Typical it's right on the waist so my trousers will hurt. :(
On top of that, I've had a very painful tongue most of the week. I thought I had an ulcer - but nothing has come out yet (yesterday was the most painful day). Plus I've generally felt very out of sorts the last week or so - keep dropping off :o. Now my head's just ringing, which isn't very pleasant.

Sounds to me as if you are generally under the weather and the boil is a symptom of trying to work its way out. I think what you need is a complete rest, no stress etc, as for how you achieve that, SOME HOPE!
Hope you are feeling better this morning.

I have had a difficult week so far. Just leaving for work on Monday (after being off for a week) when my Mum phones to say Gran had died in the night (it wasn't unexpected, she was 96 with alzheimer's for ten years).
Mum seems to have gone into a strange mood where she can't make decisions, so I asked for Monday afternoon off to get the funeral director and florist etc arranged and to start letting family know.
Tuesday needed to register the death, take form to undertakers and do more prep etc. While in work the phones stopped working - down to me to get it reported using my moby as the contact while the land-lines were out of action - so busy, busy, busy.
Wednesday had short-lived good news. The garage phoned to say that my brand new car - ordered 15 weeks ago had arrived, but a standard roof instead of a glass one had been added! Arghhhhhh! So I now have to wait a further period for a new car to be made to my requested spec - unfortunately there are longer delays, so I have no idea when it will arrive now:(
Wednesday afternoon - in work phone problem resolved but the hard-drive on my computer failed - IT guy says can-not be repaired have lost some of my data. Fortunately some it was on another machine.
I've booked today (Thursday) off to run round doing the last bits of organising and hoovering & dusting as having house guests in preparation for funeral tomorrow.I'm just wondering what else can go wrong....

Sorry to hear of your loss. When it comes to bereavement, we are all different, how we react is our coping mechanism. I think its hard for those left behind to adjust to a life without the person that has left us. A friend of over thirty years died sixteen months ago and I find myself wondering what she would have made of a TV programme, how her family is doing and will for a long time to come and her bereft husband must feel his soul mate has gone.

Me and Matt went shopping to Ikea last night, ILVA was closed grrrrr
I told him the essential things we needed but he wouldn't bite and buy anything. Near the end he suddenly turned around and said 'we need the essentials for moving but I not trailing back around now'. Men, if only they listened. We had hot dog fries and a drink and it only cost £3.50 for the two of us in IKEA. Bargin. Were going back on Saturday as Matt spotted the sign for the breakfasts for 95p.
I did see a coffee table I like and a few other bits and pieces I like but Matt wasn't in the buying mood and refused to buy them grr. He only wants to buy essentials so told him my table was essential lol.
Been trying to think of ways to maximise the space in the house etc and have a few ideas but Matt keeps insisting on no cluter. If he let me buy what we needed we wouldn't have clutter

Big Hugs Sam. You didn't need all the tech problems after that news. Ask the garage what compensation you will get for the delay!

Sarah, why was Ilva closed? I hope they haven't completely closed though there's always the chance because of them being in administration. I heart Ilva as much as I despise Ikea though I may be the only one who feels that way!! Coffee tables are essential because otherwise where do you pop your coffee?

18th July 2008, 01:27 PM
Sam I'm so sorry. My thoughts are with you.
Sarah - men are all the same when it comes to buying furniture. To them essentials are a bed, bath, toilet, cooker, fridge and sofa. Just tell him that making it your home is essential and that includes a new coffee table and bookcase lol.

I can't believe they screwed up your car! Well, actually, yes, I can believe it! Rotters!
You've had your "three" this week, though - nothing else should go wrong for you.

I got my car. I had to leave a £500 deposit (on my credit card) until I can supply them with either the original log book (which I really cannot find) or a supply which I'll have to get from the DVLA.
I then went to Tescos and then drove home.
Pulling onto my drive at an angle, there was an interesting 'scrauunnnnnch' sound as something hit the hump and I swore nicely and reversed back off again. I straightened the car up and went in again (slowly), and this time the car went over smoothly. I checked underneath, and it would appear that it was just the jack points which hit the drive! To confirm, there is no blue paint on the ground. I'll just have to be careful to drive the car in straight in future. :o

I've got a major incentive to get on with the album; my dad's cousin is throwing my parents a surprise party on the Saturday while they're staying with her. I would very much like to get it done so I can present it to them that day, with all the family present. I'm going to lose the first week of August, as we'll be down in Bognor staying with them, so this means I have this week, next week and the week from 11th August to get it done.
And I'm still missing most of the photos that family members have promised to send me!
Oh well. At least with a scrapbook, you can add pages in at a later date. :o

It's not just you, don't worry! It's Michael who won't play ball!
I had an idea to do a section of children (ie us), their weddings and their own children (ie grandchildren). We have no decent pics of Michael and his sons at all.
I have some fantastic pics of the two girls when they were younger - but I could certainly do with an up-to-date pic of you guys if you have one. Preferably with Hannah smiling - if that's possible! I mean, her face probably won't crack if she smiles! hahahahahaaha

Been busy today doing teacher things for school - one of DDs teachers is a student and is leaving at the end of term so have made her a book to remember her year there by. Was going to do quote books for the other two as well but no time now so they will just have cards and the bottles of sparkling wine I got them in France a while back. Also got a friends birthday card that needs to be done ASAP not to mention DDs friend next Saturday AND my Mum's!!!! All need to be done within the next five day or sooner!!!!
