I think this forum needs a Technical Support forum link thinggy.

My question is why do i have to keep Logging In quite often every day. I think that could be abit of a put off for some people having to keep Logging In. Is there any chance this can be changed to once a day or something. Thanks

When you log in, do you ever tick the 'remember me' box? If so, then you should never need to log in again - I never do. Once I've logged in, I'm in as soon as I come onto the internet either here or at work.

Good point, why didn`t i think of that. I have ticked the box now so i`ll soon see if it works or not. Thanks.:)

So has ticking the box worked?

yeah, seems to have worked. I only have to login once a day now

But why do you need to keep logging on? I never need to log on - because I never log off!

maybe it`s because i like to keep my computer clean by deleting all the temp files and stuff. I like my computer to keep running fast, so i defrag once a week, clear the temp files once a day, virus check once a week, and update the pc once a week. That way i have a trouble free pc. Which is why i still have to login every day.

Ah, that'll explain it.

I suppose I ought to clear all my temporary files/cookies occasionally.

I thought you could opt to 'lock in' certain cookies, but that's all above my head, I must say.

clearing cookies will do it!

You really only need to defrag monthly - I'm a certified geek so I know.

Once a month... I been infront of a pc neally every day for 8 hours for neally 11 years. If there is ever a geek, them i`m certainly one. Trust me. defraging my pc once a week is nesecerrary. Files are always getting moved about. A clean pc is a happy, fast and quiet pc. If my pc`s happy, then i dont have to kick it :)

I have VISTA, so i can choose what i delete, it gives me the option. But if you want to get techinical, then you could browse the folders and delete what you dont want manually

Yeah, I've got Vista too - but I can't find my way around it! Nothing's where it should be from memory, and instead of checking to see whether I actually need defragging (like all previous versions of Windows have done), it just does it! I had to stop because I didn't have time to lock up the computer for up to an hour at the time.

Another irritating little trick it has is this 'this task can only be performed by an administrator' lark. As I AM the administrator, I don't know why it can't see that and carry on doing the job I ask it to do!

I need someone to come and deal with it for me and give me a proper sit-down lesson.

I got Office 2007 as well, and believe me it is so TOTALLY different from all previous versions of Office/Word! It takes me hours to do a 5 minute task simply because I don't know where all the formatting/editing commands are. Thankfully I've remembered the 'insert-picture-file' chain of keystrokes so I can get straight to the pictures directory without faffing about trying to find it using the menus. I ended up buying a 'Microsoft Office 2007 Explained' book, as I simply could not find the 'Autocorrect' drop down a all!

I use O&O to defrag my pc.
One thing that does get on my nerves is that vista grinds away as if it is really busy doing something, but when i look in the Task Manager, i dont see much happening that isn`t usually happening. I think what vista does, is try and learn what you are going to do next, but because i always change what i do, it`s never going to learn anything from me.
