I saw this demo'd at the NEC recently and had to buy some.
I also bought a book and dvd but just wondered if there was anyone else on here who had any tips or had tried it.

Takes some getting used too, but its great stamped into and then when cool, you can cut in an embellishment. I bought quite a bit of friendly plastic ages ago from a woman on e bay, word of warning, there are some that will charge far more than the shops.

So what sort of things did you make out of it?

I made a hot air balloon out of FP and used it as an embellishment to go on a card, with shadow balloons in the background. I have also used a mosaic type stamp to stamp into friendly plastic (with both of these I precut them into strips that co-ordinated to make stripes) big enough to fill a two inch square apperture. Not done any in ages, you have inspired me to have another go.

So if you stamp into it, do you use a fine detail stamp or something with quite a bold design?

I have only tried with simple designs. I tried out heating up the friendly plastic and used a cheap, give away stamp as an experiment incase it stuck, as I had only seen it demoed briefly on QVC. Foil is a good thing to heat the plastic on and I suggest you put a heat proof mat or chopping board underneath to save your table. Depending on the colours chosen for your snippets to put together, you do get really interesting effects when you heat it. You will also need a tiny spatula or even a metal pokey tool to stop the plastic from going off by itself and don't make it boil, you will end up with a horrible mess.

Well you'll laugh at this - I put my Ranger heat proof mat underneath and heated with my heat gun and thought I would see if I could use my sizzix paddle punches as I didn't have any cookie cutters.
Result yes the punches worked brilliantly - but I forgot to use a self healing mat and I now have a lovely square cut right in the centre of my heat proof sheet! LOL

Oh dear, at least you did not punch directly into your table.
