And to prove it, I have just eaten my first Kent strawberries of the season. Oh, so sweet and divine! Last year, of all the strawberries I ate, half of them were not sweet as you'd expect from a good strawberry.

We had some raspberries in jelly earlier, as well: I bought a couple of punnets of US raspberries in Asda on Sunday, and the only way I could think of serving them which didn't involve a huge amount of work was to suspend them in jelly, which is what I did.

Ooh I know what you mean Leonie, all the english fruits seem to be doing so well this year. I have pots of strawberries in the back garden, they won't be ready until the end of July probably but I think they're going to be big and juicy this year!

Just had some wild strawberries out of the garden - tiny little things but oh so sweet...

I adore strawberries, they have to be the best fruit ever.

That's probably true. Unfortunately, they can also be the most disappointing - the last couple of pots I've bought have been nowhere near as delicious as the first one I got which started this thread off. There seems to be such a narrow window of perfect ripeness before they've gone.

Seem to vary too depending on where you get them and the variety! Tesco have been better than Sainsburys for us, but also depends how ripe they let them get before picking!
