Jeans Buttons

i bought some jeans buttons from ebay to use on minibooks, but i cant 'set' them!

they have the button, with a small piece in the 'tube' bit at the back and a diamante on the top, and a seperate pin.

If i do what i do with other jeans buttons, and bash the life out of them, the pins just squish and it doesnt set, does anyone have any ideas?

You could try using 2 bits or rubber or whatever you can find to protect both ends of the button and squash them gently with a pair of pliers.
