Can't speak for Leonie but I am OK thanks.

Took Hannah to the hospital this morning which was constructive but we were hungry, so got a roll in a sandwich shop - never again, an hour later we felt rather sick - that shop will be given a wide berth.

I rang the DWW to ask about the progress of our DLA claim and was told it is with the decision maker - but whats odd is that they haven't contacted the hospital at all. I expect it to go to appeal, but we shall see.

Apart from that I have been making and photographing cards to take South next week or post tomorrow. I have also got to find the documentation to go with the passports and get the applications off, otherwise we won't be going to Eire in August.

Glad to hear you are OK Lorraine (apart from the dodgy sarnies!) but you must admit it is rather strange not to see Leonie about.

I've been popping in and out several times a day/evening; I just haven't really posted anything.

I'm just so tiredd zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Incidentally, Lorraine - it would help if you brought the 40th wedding anniversary party pics with you! If I don't get cracking with the album soon, it won't get done at all!

Evening all,

Sorry I haven't been around very often, I'm just really busy, I was at a marketing seminar this morning and I had an E-shoot this afternoon, results on the blog as ever, the blog now being of course www.mandycharltonphotographyblog.com

I might be here a little more tommorrow, I don't think I have anything urgent on!

Great news Mandy.

Sunny and warm in Leeds today, trying to get stuff ready for going to see family on Saturday on the South coast. Nice thought, after 10 am tomorrow, we are on holiday for a week - yippee.

Good luck with the weddings Mandy!

I've just checked the weather for the next 5 days and the forecast seems to be getting worse and worse. Typical bank holiday weather!

I'm driving to the South Coast on Sunday for the day - and it's going to rain all day. Typical!

It's really warm here - so much for all the rain they promised us! Still, our new aircon units arrived just before lunch, and they've taken away the old ones which were really old! The new ones are so much quieter, too. Not for nothing did I call them 'the beasties'! lol It's so warm, I may have to put mine on ...

Just ordered my poly bags (5x7 and 4x6), plus while I was on, I bought a load of Paper Nations (now Jolly Nations) decoupage sheets for only 68p a sheet.

I have to pick OH up from the station in about 15 minutes.

Morning all.

Are we having a Eurovision session this weekend?

Mandy Charlton Photography
23rd May 2008, 07:51 AM
I think Helen is trying to organise something, I will try and pop in but I have 2 photoshoots tommorrow so I might be too busy, I will of course be here in spirit and Eurovish will be on the TV, I haven't missed a Eurovish since 1974, thats the year I was born, Brotherhood of Man won that year with "Save all your kisses for me"

Did you know that Cliff Richard should have won with Congratulations but General Franco rigged the votes so that his tourism industry would boom?

Scandalous!!

Oh and it's a gorgeous morning here :D

celfyddydau
23rd May 2008, 08:30 AM
Eurovision being rigged - never! :D

Just heard the UK entry for the first time. They did a snippet on the news. Did they get Madonna's permission to use that tune?

Morning all.

Are we having a Eurovision session this weekend?

Oh yes! I never miss it.

I have watched it every year since the mid-to-late 70s. The only one I missed was the one in 1999 which came from Jerusalem. We were actually there at the time, and our hosts didn't have a TV. Typical, really!

I don't think Andy will win. It's a club song not a Eurovision one - and unless the Baltic countries get the idea and vote for the best song rather than their immediate neighbours, no country in Western Europe will ever come close again. Austria refused to take part this year because they keep being chucked out at semi-final. Basically, those western countries which don't get knocked out in the semis end up in the bottom 6 on the night. ie, the core pre-qualifying countries - France, Germany, Spain, us and Italy.

Still, even knowing all that, I still watch because for us it's a real 'bitch fest'! Bottle of wine, choccies, comfy armchair and a damn good bitch! lol

samsq
23rd May 2008, 01:48 PM
Mandy - I've just spent a few minutes looking at the pics. The girls look great. Those pre-wedding shots are fabulous. So how do they work with regard to the wedding album?

Mandy Charlton Photography
23rd May 2008, 08:45 PM
Sam, they don't actually go in the wedding album (though they could if anyone wanted them to, I guess they would go at the start) it's actually a portrait session, I do them for married people too, it's just about having relaxed happy photographs where you can feel the love! :D

Leonie, I know completely what you mean about Eurovish, I am an addict!

I spent the afternoon up at school photographing Alien day, what great fun it was and I got some awesome photographs for their exhibition which is after half term!!

After school we took the kids to the seaside and had lots of family fun.

Tommorrow I have a kids shoot in the afternoon and a family portrait shoot in the late afternoon/evening so fingers crossed for good weather and I'm a happy bunny!! :D

Mandy - sounds like you have a busy day. The couple sessions sound a nice idea.

Well I fear that Anglesey could sink this weekend. The volume of traffic, especially caravans trying to get over both bridges. It's so slow moving it takes ages just to get on the island. I'm very glad I'm not venturing far this weekend.

Mandy Charlton Photography

Evening all :)

Am cream crackered, a Very busy day today but I had 2 rocking photoshoots, the first one is on my blog (http://www.mandycharltonphotographyblog.com) now and the other one will go on in the morning! :)

Day of rest tommorrow, I need a lie in!

LeonieM
24th May 2008, 10:17 PM
Well, we came joint bottom with Poland and Germany. However, we actually got into double figures this year - 14. That's the most points we've had since we 'invaded' Iraq.

I do not think Russia was the best song. We all also think that if Yugoslavia can split into 3 and vote for each other, as can Czecheslovakia (not to mention Russia), then we should split out into Scotland and Northern Ireland (and possibly Wales, too).

samsq
24th May 2008, 11:51 PM
I didn't see any of the Eurovision in the end. Watched the boxing instead. At least Ricky won:)

I heard on the news this morning that Wogan doesn't want to be involved anymore!

Bagpuss
25th May 2008, 08:52 AM
So sorry all I did not organise anything in the end. I have not been well all week with a tummy bug that DD brought home from school but have still struggled to work - got too much yesterday so did not even turn the PC on - work was fine but think the trip to Costco to get some bargain papers (300 plus the carrier for just £19.96 - Basic Greyish and same quality of DOUBLE sided papers) was just way too much so I came home and was in bed and asleep by 10!

Bagpuss
25th May 2008, 08:53 AM
I heard on the news this morning that Wogan doesn't want to be involved anymore!

Well I think if he stops being involved then it will be the end of it in the UK - his commentary of the event really makes it!

Mandy Charlton Photography
25th May 2008, 09:06 AM
Yep, I think our place in Eurovish is truly over, it's sad but we've no chance of ever winning again unless they go back to a Jury system, it's always been political of course but now it's just got beyond a joke and it's not fun anymore!

mandijane55
25th May 2008, 09:39 AM
Hubby and I were predicting where the points would go (correctly) for virtually every country...
It was a bit of a farce.....well alot of one actually

LeonieM
25th May 2008, 10:15 AM
I also noticed that Luxembourg, Italy and Switzerland were conspicuous by their absence when it came to the voting at the end. The way it works is that countries that have been knocked out still get to vote. The fact they didn't clearly means that they, like Austria, didn't take part.

I still think that if they're going to have the whole of the Eastern Bloc take part, maybe they should have their own contest and then just enter the top 5 or something.

Did anyone else notice that the voting started with the UK - what happened to Albania? They should have voted first - they didn't vote at all!!

Bagpuss
25th May 2008, 01:56 PM
Leonie even if we did split into the divisions of the UK we are fair over here so I don't think we would all vote for each other - plus I am sorry to say there is still a lot of anti between the UK nations too - ie Scotland and England so the likelyhood of Scotland handing over a lot of points to England is virtually nil anyway.

Maybe going back to the jury system is the way to go, also if the songs could be listened to and voted on in advance of the evening so that the SONG rather than the performance is voted on - only say 10 mins and the bit I saw had three brides and a person who looked like a doll hanging out washing - WHAT was that all about!!???
