Hey Helen- what a lovely long list of goodies! We're hoping Rosemary is going to have something very exciting to show you too. Its not finalized yet but we're excited about it, and it looks hopeful. And her 5.00 pm hour is going to be fun for reasons I can't say. Try not to miss it!
I think the line-up for craft day looks really interesting and varied. Can't wait!

Have you checked that you have requested email notifications instantly? Also you will only get notifications when someone has posted! As soon as I start a new thread each month then that is a new subscription too but you will be able to find us all from the link I pop in the last post of the previous thread PHEW - hope that makes sense!

oops sorry I tend to be a bit of a dyslexic typist. I just bought the set of 5 flower stamps I liked them earlier but the full price was too much of a stretch but at £10 it seemed too good a bargain to miss. The 8 refills @ £10 for the xyron are a good buy as I just paid £5 for one

I rushed around this morning so I could sit and watch Rosemary's hour but as you say she was only on for half of it. My mate Chris rang me and she was furious about it.
As for me ...well I was relying on watching to take my mind off being made to look a bit of a dork by someone yesterday ! (I have been through the snivelling stage and am now onto the licking wounds bit ! )
Lets hope we see a bit more of Rosemary at 5 as by then I will probably be going into the chocoholic phase.......

The last thing my husband said as he went out the door this morning was "don't buy anything"!!!!!
I had to text him "oops" ... thought I'd better warn him before he got home that I held out most of the day but did finally succumb to the "Once Upon a Time" scrapbook set ... bit daft really as I don't (yet) scrapbook so have no idea what I shall do with it other than sit and enjoy the wonderful papers ... I already have the small matt-stack of card so know what to expect.
I really should have text him another "oops" but can't yet face telling him I also bought the Cosmo Cricket papers.
So that's really not too bad for a whole day of tempting offers now is it?!?!?!?

I was at work, so missed most of craft day completely.
I dozed off in front of the telly for the launch.
I then watched a bit of the 8pm hour, but it was Dawn and I dozed off again, waking up just as Anna's hour began.
I came back to it again at 11pm, having been watching other things and doing other things.
I can honestly say that I haven't seen one single thing that I've said 'Oh, I must buy that'. So, I've saved myself lots of money today. :D

overall craft day was a bit more interesting than usual. I didn't buy anything but enjoyed watching all the different presenters. It was nice to have a bit more variety this time. Missed Rosemary in the morning but sounds like she didn't have very long anyway. Maybe they should have a show where you can see the basics like glue/wacky tack/ card blanks/ tools etc altogether then we can see more of the 'interesting' products in the specialised hours. Thought Rosemary's hair looked really nice in the 5pm show!!
Bagpuss
9th May 2008, 02:53 PM

Aw thanks girlies. Rosemary is really pleased. I've been urging her to switch hairdressers for yonks and she just has.
I guess she was tired tired but she's been under pressure lurching from one big deadline to the next and it's taken it's toll. Things should even out a little now, though big things on the horizon are a special QVC show she has during June that you won't want to miss, and then the QVC Summer event in July. Ooooooh, and samples of her next TSV are in the post to us ................

Thanks Ruby - that's really kind.
I'd never want to seem like we're moaning that we're hard done to - we love what we do and lots of lovely and/or exciting things happen to us. We feel really priviliged to do what we do. And many other people have much more important jobs too - life changing ones. Nevertheless, people wouldn't believe the amount of behind-the-scenes work that goes on for QVC, magazine articles, and of course our shop.
Anyway, thanks again for your kindness, Nige

the summer event in July is the craft special that peeps get invited to, usually happens in London, fab event, 3 sessions I think, lovely to meet all our crafting heroines and heros and the goody bag is just AMAZING I was lucky enough to go a few years ago, met Rosemary and Nige, Nancy Hill, Leonie, Sara from HOTP oooh loads of people, it was hosted by Anthony and Julian and was just one of the best things I have ever done....if you get an invite don't hesitate!!

Basically QVC select names from their lists at random so it really is a lottery - despite buying craft items now for best part of 7 years I have never had one so it is literally the luck of the draw!

Tilly
13th May 2008, 07:39 PM
Was with a friend at Crab Apple today, and she commented how difficult it is to pick a class without seeing a picture of the finished item. I know you said that the website is a pain to upload to and there are band width problems, but how about having a thread on here where you post pictures of the projects? The class titles are very dry and give no real clue about just how beautiful the end result will be.
Bagpuss
13th May 2008, 09:35 PM
Just noticed that on 6 June it is "Scrapbooking Ideas" rather than "Scrapbooking with Rosemary Merry" - could Nige let us know if it is Rosemary who is on please!
poppysno
13th May 2008, 09:35 PM
Rosemary now has three shows during June - yippeeee!! I'll post details soon.
With regard to pics of the classes. I guess there are two excuses I have (neither of them are very good tho). The first is that we ask the workshop tutors to have samples up in the shop at least three weeks before a workshop. The second is that I simply dont have time to do photos and upload them etc. Not satisfactory, but the truth. The weird thing is that the workshops book up regardless.
Tilly
14th May 2008, 05:40 AM
Yes, there are samples in the shop, but that still means a 20 minute drive to go and look at them instead of being able to book over the phone. And yes, you can phone up and ask the girls to explain what the class looks like, but lets face it describing a folding book is never as inspiring as seeing it properly.
And yes, lots of classes sell out, but yesterday there were 4 people in the class and the previous one I took had 3 people.
Photographing and uploading shouldn't take long at all, so basically you are telling me you can't be bothered.
This is what I actually told my friend J yesterday, but she did say that could I please ask you cause it would make things so much easier, but I will pass your comments back to her :p

Tilly - you can make of it what you wish. I told you the truth - I'm flat to the boards and get very little time off - and you return an insult and your own interpretation. If you choose to disbelieve what I said it's no big deal to me - I'm sick of people being rude. You may be aware that many other shops hide their examples away so that they can't be copied etc..... Bagpuss has written to me twice and I haven't even had chance to reply (sorry Helen - I will tho) and doing that is a priority over what you're asking for.
Mandy - you're cheeky. Just wait till I see you - heheheheh

Oh, dear Nige, there simply aren't enough hours in the day.
I'm looking forward to hearing when Rosemary's QVC dates are in June. Having said that, although I was able to watch on Craft Day I was getting over a bout of bronchitis and really didn't take much in at all.
I don't think many people understand how much work needs to go into a website to make it work properly. My husband was working on a website for a colleague and, oh dear, a humble typo here or an extra space there and everything can come out looking very wierd or not work at all. The website is a full time job in itself ... then you are running the shop, then doing the paperwork (another full time) job as well as supporting Rosemary.
Looking forward to Brenda Pinnick's next kit (and her visit to QVC UK) so am saving up for that.
Keep on teasing us ... we like hearing from you.
Bagpuss
14th May 2008, 07:22 PM
Nige no worries guess you are flat out! (BTW I still have to get to the post office but promise I will send the CD to you LOL)In fact I have just responded to a comment on UKS that Rosemary needs mores shows by saying but does Rosemary want to do more!
Tilly, that was a really nice offer than MJ made to you and I know she would have done it too! Please can we keep it nice on here. You do not know how lucky you are to have such a great shop on your doorstep - a lot of places do not even have a semi decent shop let alone one where there are some great classes run!
I know I will get shot down now too for being a Nige groupie but having chatted with Nigel on a few occasions I do know how much the shop and QVC dominate not only his and Rosemary's lives but also those of the staff in the shop AND his own family too. Yes that is their choice but he does not even have to come on here and then when he does spare some of his precious time to do so he does not deserve to be treated in this manner.
So please, let's be nice to those of us who do come on here - that includes the admin peeps and us mods who do this for free in our own time!

Hi Bagpuss
Anyone who is able to get to Rosemary's shop is very very lucky. I'm a bit envious that I can't ... well, not unless I move and then I would have to get a new job and everything that goes with it.
I propose a huge big hug for the Merry family! They are all incredibly talented and give everything they do 100% effort. I appreciate it.

14th May 2008, 08:34 PM
Thanks for your understanding on this - I do appreciate your support a great deal.
Well now, swiftly moving on - Rosemary is next on QVC in June, as follows:
6 June at 10.00am (though the TSV will take 12 minutes of that hour)
12 June at 2.00pm - Rosemary will be presenting a full hour of American Crafts products and we're really really excited about this - you know what kind of value the American Crafts kits usually are. Last week, the 54 rolls of textured ribbon didnt even make it to air before they sold out. This is an hour not to miss and she has loads of new kits from them!
25 June at 19.00 - we don't know too much about this hour yet, but Rosemary has a stack of lovely new kits coming in, so hopefully some will be showcased here.
Also, I believe the invites for the QVC summer event in July have started to go out and, as Sheila says, if you get the chance to go you must snatch QVCs hands off, double quick. It's a fantastic experience and you go home with bags of freebies. Rosemary will be running make 'n' takes sponsored by American Crafts and giving their goodies away to people who attend her mini-workshops on the day.
These are the kinds of 'extra' things that keep us busy! Now, off to do the text for one of Rosemary's magazine articles ............ sigh..... Don't feel too sorry for me though - I hope to go fishing for a couple of hours tomorrow!

Why are these shows always on a week day in working hours????
Not fair :( (Runs off and stamps feet, smiling at the same time :D)
Wouldnt be too bad if they didnt sell out so quickly before/during the show then I could catch up online.
Not sure if I will have access during the day as I am starting a new job and dont think that logging onto QVC instead of working will go down too well in my first week !
Mind you, the way things are going at the moment I dont have any time to craft so my stash is just sitting in a drawer anyway, not ideal.

Oooops, sorry - I got my dates mixed up. Rosemary will be doing the American Crafts hour on Friday 13th June, sandwiched between an hour of Anna Griffin, and an hour of Nancy Hill. It's going to be fun fun fun!

Thanks Nige for the update.
I had a little smile to myself yesterday, I was going through my diary and came across my entry for the scrapbooking weekend. I had totally forgotten about it and it really cheered me up.... looking forward to it now :D

Well I have passed the turning for Frodsham a few times in recent weeks. DH just doesn't get the need for stash touching/buying, with comments like you've got a room full of the stuff already, so we don't get to visit. Nige - I will make it one day, hopefully soon, as a visit is long over-due.

Sounds like you have a DH like mine, mind you he did say something about Lady Heyes yesterday so hopefully a visit to the shop in half-term is on the way for me. Dare I take my 12 yo in with me because she can spend more on craft supplies than I can?

Sounds like I am one very lucky person then cause my DH drove me all the way up and looked after DD all day so that I could do a class - however he came back too soon so I could not spend too much LOL!

HI
On a completely different note has there been any updates on Joel's album being released in hard copy format for all us oldies who haven't got mp3 players and still rely on CD's?

Hi Jakjak
The hard copies aren't available yet - I'm not sure what the delay is. If you're genuinely interested, the best things would be to write to Joel at brokenwingsxxx@aol.com and he can explain properly what's happening.
Thanks for enquiring, Nige

Yes thank you RubyMay I did get your lovely comment!
Have had the Big Bite in work too and had a play - not as heavy (thought it would weigh a ton) as I expected and just as easy if not easier than the cropadile to use especially if you don't have much deterixty in your hands. Contacted We R Memory keepers directly ages ago and they said that the Big Bite was expected on QVC UK in July so looks like it might be a bit earlier!
Off to see the new items I have spotted above.......

I've had the Big Bite for a while now and I love it. Just used it on a card I've made, love the fact that I can set eyelets anywhere and I have been more creative using them.

:) How far is the reach on it please Dijit as its hard to tell from the pics I've seen.
I really fancy one of these...but I want a BIA as well and I cant stretch to both.
( Not that that has ever stopped me before! LOL :D )

Corrine did you say GLITTER thickers???? OOOO cannot wait now!!
Will check the reach for you tomorrow if I remember on Big Bite but know it will go into the centre of a 12x12 so guessing at 6 inches.

The only drawback I can think of for the big bite is lining up the machier with the eyelets. Because it is more designed to sit on a surface, you have kind of duck down to line it up rather than bringing the cropodile to the eye. IYSWIM
