Morning all. Sick and poorly Boss has now gone on holiday to Spain and won't be back until Thursday!
Helen you should be able to change your post in your blog. It's so long since I've blogged but I think that there is an edit option on the page where it lists your enteries.
Mandy Charlton Photography
14th April 2008, 10:35 AM
Helen you need to go to blogger dashboard, then edit posts and it should bring up a list of your posts which you can then edit/delete/view etc :)

I bought some stash today  I couldn't help it, we were at the Garden centre and they had some Basic Grey chipboard, the ones with the dinosaurs and the ones with the flamingo and the elephant. I haven't scrapped for a year but I still hear the stash calling occasionally :D

Ohh I have had a productive day, but nothing to do with crafting...... more like filling holes and sanding down in between the school and nursery runs.

Evening everyone!
Yay Me! I just crafted! I made a new canvas for our livingroom, it's totally and fantastically fabulous but I've used so much product on it, nearly a whole pack of BG chipboard, LOL!!
It's been quiet on here today, I hope everyone is ok?
Bagpuss
15th April 2008, 10:09 PM
Sorry just busy! Hope you had a good wedding anniversary even without the cards and would love to see the new canvas - I have bought some but done nothing with them as yet.

Busy filling orders this end.... have got an appy with an Accountant on Friday to get my books straight and I am terrified that I have done something wrong. It may appear that hubby has been giving me duff into :(

Oh no Sam, I hope all turns out to be well, all my stuff is currently waiting to go off to my book-keeper, I haven't the courage to try and work it all out myself for both mine and hubbys business!

I spent half the morning trying to file my P35 on line, the system is far too busy. Have spent the best part of a week straightening out the books, getting them ready of DD to add up and crosscast on the adding machine as part of her work experience next week. She is spending this week in the school library (staff instead of a pupil, as she is only 14 and too young for places to take her). Have got to think of other work related tasks she can do, as chimney sweeping is not an option. :) I have got to write an objective report on how professionally etc she approaches the work and she has got to prepare a talk to give to the class on her work experience, which the poor kid is dreading. Looking on the bright side, she doesn't have to wear uniform this fortnight, smart casual is the order for the day.

I got my gogo kit today...it is particularly lush this month

Lorraine dare I say - filing is always good experience!!! After all every business has it so she might as well know about it.
Is the gogo kit on their website MJ? will have to go and have a look - BTW whose was the swirly paper from last month's kit please?

I agree, it is boring but proper record keeping is essential and information has to be retrievable if necessary.

Arghhhhhh book-keeping! Why do we have to do it???? It just takes up time and I end up questioning my totals. A real nightmare. And then of course you end up with a hefty bill from the accountant too! It is definitely a side of my business which I dislike.

If you find book keeping theraputic I can see you getting a lot of work from the forum :D
Moring all. Not doing much, boss still not here so I don't see why I should be busting a gut!
Mandy Charlton Photography
17th April 2008, 10:43 AM
Yep, expect boxes of the stuff Helen ;) On a serious note I would have no problem sending you all my book keeping if you decide to make it your business and I'm pretty sure others on here would feel the same :)
I have clients coming in less than an hour and then it's off for lunch followed by dropping the kids at grannys. Tommorrow they're going to sleep at grandmas

I do our books and use the cross casting method therefore all the expenditure columns have to add up to what financed the expenditure, be it the business bank account, company credit card or cash. I also have a printing calculator so I staple the printouts showing my workings in the record book monthly. I did work in an accountants office for well over 15 years, so I do have some idea what to do.

D'you know, it's our last full day today - and I STILL haven't been in the pool or the jacuzzi!!! Mind you, I realised a couple of hours ago that I packed the top half of my two-piece but not the bottom half! Who's a clever girl, then!

Afternoon Leonie LOL!
Time has gone so fast - hope you got lots of things done though even if you have not been in the pool. Hope the trip back is OK for you with no delays too.
Been to work today, collected a brand new cat bed from a lovely freecycler and then been doing UNPAID stuff for work planning a crop.

My cat has been at the vets today as he has been yowling and trying to pee everywhere! Found pee with blood in it in the bath last night so thought it best to take him. Does not look like crystals at the moment (had this problem before and I cannot afford to go though it again as it cost us over £1,000 for the last cat!) but he had a pain killing jab and also antibiotics - have to get a urine sample now over the weekend using special glass beads but no earlier that 10pm on Sunday as they need to have it within 12 hours!
Oh the joys of being a pet owner - not to mention the £48.23 it has cost us before analysis charges!!! Hope he is OK tho and would be without him.

Morning all hope you are all well.
Just updating on the housing front,we have been allocated a temp house for a few months till a permanent one can be found,i do know that some housing assocition homes are being built as we speak so fingers crossed, only trouble is its a 2 bed and we need a 3 as my 2 girls sharing will be like sitting on a bomb,so just chasing up 2 medical letters.
The weather here is cold and very wet so not going far today.
mandijane55
19th April 2008, 10:43 AM
OOOh madcow well at least things are looking up, I know sharing for your girls wouldnt be ideal, is there a spare room downstairs that could be utilised as a bedroom perhaps???.....
Keeping my fingers crossed for you :-)
Mandy sorry to hear that your shoots have been cancelled....must be very frustrating when you're all geared up to go....
I've got a weekend of nothing planned. Been so busy this week that I've fallen asleep watching tv when I've gotten in from work most nights..
My girls have a stage school class that they're trying out tomorrow....in addition to tap, ballet and modern dance classes....they're definately not shrinking violets....
Mandy Charlton Photography
19th April 2008, 01:06 PM
It is a little annoying as thats my entire income for this week cancelled!! Hey ho though, what can you do? Life just does get in the way sometimes. We've just come in actually after having a lovely lunch out (only about the 5 time this week we've eaten out!! LOL) Paul is now finishing landscaping our garden, he started a pond last week and now it's got a Hydroponic filter, Arthur the Koi is going to live in it, he's my friendliest fish and likes to be tickled and stroked!! We're (for we, read Paul) is surrounding the pond with beach pebbles and then the rest of the garden will be barked! I'll post photos when it's finished!
Bagpuss
19th April 2008, 03:26 PM
Sounds as if Paul has a busy weekend even if you don't Mandy! I know you don't want to jeopardise your business but it does seem unfair that people keep cancelling on you - is there any way you can take a non refundable deposit from them so that you at least have something to show even if they don't?
Sam I love the idea of a tardis for scrapping in!
Helen hope that things get sorted the way you want them and that the letter will do the trick - I know it is hard to get housing after what my brother's ex went through so wish you luck.
Louise hope the craft fair went OK today for you!
Mandy Charlton Photography
19th April 2008, 03:29 PM
Helen I did try making people pay the session fee when they booked but it just stopped people from booking! It's just one of those things, I don't have another weekend free until mid may so it's not too bad!!

19th April 2008, 03:33 PM

19th April 2008, 07:21 PM

Hello all :)
How are we all today?
We've got an allotment, we're quite happy about it as we've only got a teeny garden and allotments are scarce since it became trendy, the best bit is we got an allotment in one of the poshest parts of Newcastle! It needs so much work but it's huge and has loads of potential, not sure my louis vuitton bag fits in though!! LOL ;) I've also upgraded my phone to a broadband anywhere phone ( a blackberry) so now I'll be available everywhere!! :D
Bagpuss
20th April 2008, 02:29 PM
Well when you are in business you need to be able to be contacted so good on you Mandy.
Had a good day so far - spent some time in the garden, cooked a roast beef lunch and also a chocolate chocolate chip cake which we had warm with vanilla ice cream and the yummiest but simplest chocolate sauce in the world that I just had to share:
3tbsp each of cocoa powder and sugar put in 100ml of water and reduce until thick! We did add a drop of rum too but it was still nice without LOL!
Allotment sounds good Mandy and LOL at the bag there but hope you all enjoy it and the fruits of your labours too.

Afternoon all...had a really lazy weekend and managed to do a little bit of scrapping and some messing about with some FIMO.....
Also had to do the housework which I'm not happy about as hubby was off weds thurs and fri and im a bit miffed he didnt do it while there were no kids in the house....hmmmmmm
I've currently got my gogo kit spread out all over the craft room and I dont know where to start because there's so much of it and it's all so very lush....
There is a piece of paintables paper that I'm scared to touch.......
Anyone else used this with any non disasterous results?
