Catherine Tate was on Jonathan Ross last night - I taped it because I was watching a 2-hour Extreme Makeover. Anyway, she told the story of how she got her beloved cat. She apparently rang Battersea and told them she wanted a kitten. Well, the first one they offered her they said '... but there's a problem with it. It gets regular prolapses.' So, she turned it down, not being someone who could deal with that sort of problem.

A while later they rang her again and said 'yes, we've got a kitten - but there's a problem with it.' Her heart sank again, and she asked what the problem was.
"It's a ginger." they replied.
The whole audience cracked up at this. Her answer to the Pets Home was "Well, he'll be right at home then, because we're a family of gingers."

How on earth can you put a ginger cat in the same class as a much-maligned ginger-haired person??? I mean, Helen will agree with me here - the ginger cats are our very favourite! They've certainly got more personality than some of the others, and I just love the way they look.

It's just pathetic. Plus, of course, only a saddo would consider a 'ginge' less of a human than any other hair colour in any event.

Anyway, they gave that kitten a home, and Catherine says he's her little baby and she loves him to bits!

There was me wondering how you can put the colour in the same category (ie problem) as a cat who gets prolapes!

I want to know how the colour of a cat (or whatever) can be a problem!!!

The studio audience were gobsmacked; Jonathan was gobsmacked. I was gobsmacked.

It's just crazy.

I can't understand why people seem to find her entertaining, to me her humour is juvenile.

I'd say it shows the strength of the modern writing of Dr Who, as a mediocre actress hasn't ruined it.

Just caught up and yes Leonie - I do not see WHAT the problem is with a GINGER cat - in fact I refused to have anything BUT this time around! That is not to put down our dear darling Ebony as I wanted at least one ginger - so when two brothers came up after being rejected by someone who would not have a home check I just jumped at them both!

Ohh we have a ginger cat, Thomas and he is quite a character. Him and Scruffy used to fight alot but him and Kitt get on great. When Kitt escapes he sticks by her and brings her home

What we don't know, of course, is whether Catherine was telling the truth, or just spinning a yarn for effect. If it IS true (and there's no way of knowing), then the person at Battersea is the one who needs belittling, not Catherine.

I don't partiularly like her humour, but she is a good actress.
